Berber villages (1 day)

"From the top of the mountain I admired the citadel. At the Mosque, I thought of the legend of the seven sleepers. In this region, I discovered the Berber people." As you come round the bend of a winding road in the southern plateaux, youll catch sight of the spectacular Berber Resort of Guermessa. Built on two hills, the remains of the ancient village served as a fortress against invaders. Youll be enchanted by the mosque and its curious tombs, known as the seven sleepers. A visit to the market in Tataouine will continue your immersion in Berber culture. For information:

Chenini and Tataouine (1 day)

"I adored the colourful atmosphere of the souks, explored this ancient Berber village and discovered the Ghorfas of Ksar-Haddada" Recommended by our Excursions desk. The strange and ghostly Ksour region, in the hills of Djebel Dahar, is one of the cradles of Berber culture. Youll love the souk of Tataouine, a peaceful little town like something out of the Far West, and be literally dazzled by the Berber village of Chenini, with its houses dug out of the rock face that appear to be slowly sinking into the ground. After lunch, youll visit the fortified granaries of Ksar-Hadada with its magnificent ghorfas grouped together like honeycomb. For information:

• Travel time: 3 hours 30 minutes.

Desert and Oasis (2 days)

"This extreme environment, with its incredible ocean of dunes - kingdom of silence and nomadic peoples - was a totally unforgettable experience." During these 2 days, youll be literally enchanted by the Reg (desert of stone) and the beauty of Ksar Hallouf, with its magnficent ghorfas. The camel ride will take you to the majestic dunes of the Sahara. Youll sleep overnight in a Beouin camp, the chance to experience the changing beauty of this mythical environment to the full. The following day, visit to the astonishing village of Tamezret and the troglodyte village of Matmata, where "Star Wars" was shot. For information:

“Have a taste of everything” Resort. This really is the most beautiful location on the island of Djerba, a radiant jewel in the clear waters of the Mediterranean. In the south eastern corner of Tunisia, shaded by its palm trees, this Club Med Resort unfurls its captivating charm along a beach of fine white sand. Gently caressed by waves, immersed in ancient folklore, the hotel at Méridiana is entwined around a wave pool with blue reflections, bordered with parasols.
