Le Morgan

In the centre of the Resort, below Reception, this bar comes to life as soon as the nightclub opens. Snacks served. The terrace is a smoking area.

Kitesurf Academy (Optional Extra*)

A totally different kind of water sport, sometimes called flysurf or kite, kitesurfing consists of being pulled along by a kite on a mini surfboard. Special courses are held at the Resort, run by an outside kitesurf specialist. Ideal kitesurfing spot on a vast lagoon. Equipment rental at the Resort (the lagoon is opposite the Club Med).

Scuba-diving (Optional Extra*)

Eurodivers Scuba-diving centre

The region of El Gouna offers a very wide variety of sites, located between an hour and an hour and a half by boat from the Village, which are distinct from the more crowded Hurghada sites. The coral reefs here are spectacular, with huge shoals of multicoloured fish, including the famous clown fish, turtles and moray eels.

Departure at 8 a.m., returning to the Village between 2 and 3 p.m. (depending on the site), the restaurant stays open until 4 p.m. Beginners dive in the morning or in the afternoon in the swimming pool for the first 2 or 3 lessons. Following that they take the boat and return between 2 and 3 p.m.

• Careless Reef
A dive from 15 to more than 40 metres with majestic coral outgrowths and enormous crests. Recommended level: PADI Advanced / CMAS 2 stars Fauna / flora seen regularly: Giant moray eels in open water, trevallies, carangues, fusiliers, scorpion fish, nudibr /anche fish and turtles.
• Dolphin house
8 to 14 metre dive around a half-moon shaped reef with a sandy bottom, very beautiful corals and copious flora and fauna. Recommended level: Beginner (PADI Scuba diver / CMAS 1 star) Fauna / flora seen regularly: Alcyonaria, tube coral, turtles, stone fish, red lion fish, and families of dolphins sometimes come to play with the divers on the sandy bottom 8 metres down.

Ancient Thebes (2 days)

Named "the city of a hundred doors" by Homer, this open-air museum is totally unique. Sacred city of the God, Amon-Re, these two days in ancient Thebes will take you back to the days when this mythical figure visited Thebes each year in his golden boat. A guided visit of the Temple of Karnak will show you some of the wonders of this eternal universe through a "son et lumière" show. Sphinxes guard the road leading to the Temple of Luxor. The dignity of the two Pharaohs leaves an indelible impression of peace and eternity. On the opposite bank of the river lies the secret valley, the royal Necropolis of Thebes. The Valley of the Kings and Queens and the Temple of Hatchepsout invite the visitor to meditate, not so much on death but on eternal life. On the eastern bank of the Nile, facing the Necropolis, Luxor Club Med welcomes you for meals and for your overnight stay.

Bedouin desert (1/2 day)

The desert has a magnetic charm. As infinite and changing as the sea, its magic reaches its zenith during the afternoon.Between the Nile and the Red Sea, the fabulous panorama of the eastern desert unfolds before your eyes. The Bedouin population have remained faithful to their ancestral art of living. Take a short ride on a camel, take the time to soak up this fascinating landscape; sit back and observe your surroundings as you enjoy a traditional tea. After sunset, watch an oriental show and enjoy a "mixed grill" dinner.

Cairo (1 day)

A fabulous univsere in which past and present mingle with ease, the "mother of the world" offers ancient monuments, bustling city life and the majestic Pyramids.The Museum of Cairo houses Tutankhamon's treasure, mummies, statues, sarcophagi and countless other wonders of the world. The fascinating and majestic Pyramids of Giza dominate the city and continue to astonish and amaze visitors of all ages and horizons. After lunch, admire the last of the 7 wonders of the world, and the stone Sphinx, guardian of the temple of the sun. The Mohammed Ali mosque is a fascinating sanctuary with narrow stain-glassed windows that cast multicoloured light all around. The prince who is buried here wanted it to resemble the sanctuaries of his home city, Istanbul. Round off your day by exploring the citadel of Salah al-Din, also known as the Mountain Castle.

Mahmeya Island (1 day)

From the highest point of Giftun island, admire the magnificent expanse of the Red Sea, ranked as a natural heritage reserve.The subtle colours and sparkling water that surround the island are totally breathtaking. Enjoy snorkelling on the coral reefs and sunbathing on white sands. After a buffet lunch in the island restaurant, take the time to lounge under a parasol at the end of an unforgettable day.

Quad biking (outside Club Med)

Just 10 minutes away from the frenzy of the beaches, lies infinite emptiness. This is the Arabian desert, Bedouin country.Desert discovery, sunset or barbecue, three programmes to choose from, three variations to explore the oriental desert. From a backdrop of stone and rocky plateau hewn out of the the pink mountain range, the fascinating arid environment of the mountains gives way to the totally contrasting landscape of a magnificent rocky gorge.

Valleys and temples of Luxor (1 day)

An avenue lined with giant rams, bigger than buffaloes, stretches before you.Its gates open onto the sacred lake that was used for ritual sailing. Opposite the colossi of the Ethiopian court and a vast array of columns, discover the splendid Temple of Karnak. After lunch at the Luxor Club Med, explore the royal necropolis. Over the Nile to the Valley of Kings, home to some sixty royal tombs, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsout and the Colossi of Memnon , which portray Pharaoh Amenophis the 3rd.

Climate

The very hot Saharan and arid at the south of the country and in the deserts-type climate goes milder for the north thanks to the influence of the Mediterranean. Rains are very rare ( Alexandria 240 mm Port Said 80mm Assiout 2mm). Temperatures are rarely falling under 10°C (50°F) in winter but can exceed 40°C (104°F) in summer. A wind of dry sand -the Khamsin- is frequent in spring, usually in April. It can reach 150km/h (93 miles/h) and the temperatures can quickly rise. ADVICE: from November to April, the evenings and nights may be cool; suitable clothing is recommended.

Village Information

"Enjoy your passion for sports" Resort

North of Hurghada, on the Red Sea, the Club Med Resort lies along an extensive beach, 2 kilometres long. It enjoys an excellent name for sports thanks to the steady winds in the bay, the crystal-clear water and the nearby protected coral. It’s also a haven of well-being, situated in a park of 15 hectares, planted with palm trees and bougainvillea. The turquoise blue of the three swimming pools vies with the intense blues of the sea and the sky, contrasting harmoniously with the pink ochre of the hotel buildings. The Club Med Resort can also be used as a base to discover* Louxor and Cairo.
